Youth Programs
THERAPEUTIC VISUAL ARTS CLASSES
These art classes are held in approved facilities and begin with very basic introductory steps. Arternatives employs the “READ & DRAW ADVENTURES TM” imaginative assignments as icebreakers, as well as “FOLLOW-ME DRAWING” step-by-step projects. These excercises then follow with weekly customized curriculum, craft and painting sessions. The lessons are set on a monthy, quarterly or bi-annual calendar and are relevant to appropriated ages. The lessons not only deal with art, they are designed to accomodate therapeutic and social issues which minors are directly dealing with. The completed or partial assignments can also be discussed in Groups, one-on-one counseling and family sessions.

COMMUNITY MURAL PROGRAM
This course is designed to challenge participating youth students and train them in basic mural conceptualizations, planning, equipment usage and maintenance and complete resposibility in completeing the task to clearcoat. The steps are kept in individual student portfolios and are updated in every session. Many wonderful Arternatives murals have been accomplished throughout the years in several cities throughout the world.

RESEARCH / STUDY FIELD TRIPS
All field trips are approved by facility directors, therapists, Probation Officers and/or medical staff.hese trips are directly tied into monthly Thematic arts program. Minors are expected to bring their portfolios, sketch pads and ARTERNATIVES assignment forms*
